Manchester United boss delighted with Anthony Elanga’s pre-season form

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to keep hold of Anthony Elanga this season instead of sending him out on loan.

Although the Red Devils have already forked out £73m on the signing of Jadon Sancho, Solskjaer suggested Elanga could still be in his set-up after the transfer window shuts on August 31.

The youngster scored in the 4-2 defeat against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and before anyone says anything about the result, it was another game for the players to build on their fitness and there will be more coming up before the Premier League campaign kicks off.

“It would be easy to say the boy should go on loan but he’s doing so well,” Solskjaer said after the recent pre-season friendly match, as per Manchester Evening News. “He’s electric, his pace, his skill, he’s not afraid of anything, he’s got the courage and bravery of a Man United player.

“Today he created chances for others and for himself, he scored a goal with his most difficult opportunity, I would be surprised if he’s going to be staying here.

“It depends, of course, we know it’s important for him to develop and get game time but he’s one of them we’ve not really decided. Because if he keeps on like he is I might want to keep him.”

The last Swedish striker we had was outstanding and Elanga only needs to be half as good to become a star for his club and country. It sounds like Solskjaer is keen to give him opportunities so it could be a breakthrough season for the youngster.

I’m sure he would have loved to have played with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
