Manchester United to target another top La Liga centre-back after Raphael Varane deal

Manchester United are rumoured to be after not one, but two French centre-backs this summer. The first is Raphael Varane and the second is Sevilla’s highly rated Jules Kounde.

The Mail claim there are plans to make two blockbuster signings at the back.

Kounde, who made a couple of appearances at Euro 2020 for France, is definitely one to watch for the future and I am surprised there hasn’t been more talk about Real Madrid trying to sign him in their bid to replace possibly Varane on top of Sergio Ramos.

At just 22, United are looking at a centre-back who can offer growth and stability for many years to come because it is always going to be a struggle to win trophies when we can’t defend.

I would be over the moon if United could sign two top class defenders like Varane and Kounde, but right now I just want a deal over the line for the Real Madrid defender.

Kounde would be a superb follow up signing to help United address their problems in defence. Chelsea, Tottenham and Real Madrid have all been linked with the Sevilla man this summer.
