Man Utd have €30m bid rejected by Napoli for star player – report

It seems like Manchester United are intent on strengthening their backline this summer and negotiations with Real Madrid over Raphael Varane are ongoing.

There are, however, reports on Tuesday claiming that Solskjaer’s side have made an effort to sign a different option. Kalidou Koulibaly has been strongly linked to the club over the years and the defender looked likely to leave Napoli at several points.

An exit from the Naples club never materialized and the 30-year-old now looks set to stay at the Italian club, having initially been open to a move abroad.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Manchester United have had a €30m bid rejected for Napoli’s talismanic figure at the back. With a deal to sign Varane seemingly progressing, it seems unlikely that the club would enter into advanced negotiations with another club.

The claims have, however, been backed up by a second Italian outlet. Corriere dello Sport echoes the reports and adds that Napoli responded to the offer with a polite rejection.
