Manchester United are set to kick off their first pre-season fixture of the summer as they take on Wayne Rooney’s Derby County at Pride Park.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side resumed full training earlier this month after a late end to last season but the Norwegian manager is without several first-team regulars as he names a makeshift team for the encounter against Derby.
Paul Pogba, Diogo Dalot, and Bruno Fernandes are among those expected to return next week but their absence has given some of the club’s youngsters to impress Solskjaer as they lobby for additional appearances in this summer’s camp.

Tom Heaton, the club’s first signing of the summer, makes his debut for the club although it will not count as an official appearance.
Tahith Chong, who has agreed a loan move to Birmingham ahead of next season, also starts against Derby in what will be his first appearance since 2020.
