Manchester United close to agreeing personal terms with Real Madrid star

Transfer dealings are expected to spike after tournaments in Europe and South America finished and according to reports, Manchester United are now edging closer to securing the transfer of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

The 28-year-old is a longstanding target for Manchester United and interest has been revived by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer. Varane has just one year remaining on his contract in Spain and could be brought in for a reasonable fee.

France’s shock exit from this summer’s European Championship has enabled the club to ramp up negotiations and according to the Manchester Evening News, the club is now close to agreeing personal terms with the defender.

The report claims that the club is continuing to make progress on a deal for Varane and that there is hope to complete a deal within the next few weeks.

Furthermore, it is claimed that Varane would prefer to go straight from his vacation to Manchester, as opposed to returning to Madrid before an eventual move.

Although negotiations are deemed to be slow, there is confidence that Varane will make the switch from Santiago Bernabeu to Old Trafford this summer, MEN added.
