(Video) England fans roar when announcer reads out Jadon Sancho’s name

Jadon Sancho has been handed his first start in a major international tournament as England prepare to take on Ukraine in the quarter-finals of this summer’s European Championship.

The young winger had been restricted to just six minutes of action in the tournament prior to Saturday evening but has been trusted by Southgate to make his tournament bow.

Sancho is on the verge of completing a £73m transfer to Manchester United after the club announced it has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over the move. The former Manchester City player is expected to complete all necessary medical examinations after Euro 2020.

Sancho’s exclusion from England’s opening four games has puzzled supporters, with some even suggesting that the omissions were due to the 21-year-old playing his football abroad, as opposed to domestically.

Regardless, Sancho will be eager to impress in his first start and fans, as seen above, were jubilated to learn that the tricky winger was starting the encounter with Ukraine.
