David de Gea’s Manchester United future up in the air

David de Gea’s Manchester United future remains up in the air.

Manchester United have confirmed the re-signing of Tom Heaton on a Bosman, but he is expected to be number two with Lee Grant also agreeing to sign fresh terms with the club.

That surely means that one of Dean Henderson or De Gea are expected to depart because keeping both of these top class goalkeepers is unsustainable.

According to ESPN, De Gea is not sure about whether his future is at Old Trafford — and it won’t be easy for him to secure a top move this summer.

The Spaniard is currently playing second fiddle with Spain at Euro 2020, serving as back-up to Unai Simon.

I expect discussions will take place when Spain’s Euros come to an end.

Anyhow, Henderson should take priority because of the talent he has at such a young age. In comparison to De Gea, who is going backwards, Henderson can only become as good if he is getting the game time required to develop.
