Everton in talks to sign Manchester United outcast on free transfer

Everton are in talks to sign Manchester United outcast Sergio Romero, according to reports. The goalkeeper hasn’t featured for the club since July last year and is set to be released from the club next week.

Romero, who joined Manchester United in 2015, has often acted as David de Gea’s understudy but boasts a wonderful record between the sticks at the club.

The Argentina international was denied a move to Everton last year by United, but the Toffees have reportedly reignited their interest.

That’s according to The Athletic, who say that Everton are in talks with Romero’s representatives over a move but face competition from Juventus and Celta Vigo.

Romero is a free agent in just six days and has been free to speak to foreign clubs since January, but is reportedly now closing in on an agreement with a new club.
