‘Destined for big move’ – €70m wonderkid tipped to join Man City or Man Utd

Sporting CP’s Nuno Mendes has enjoyed a rapid rise to the top this season, starring for his side on their road to domestic glory in Portugal. The young left-back has been linked to a number of clubs in Europe and is predicted to have a long career at the very top of football.

The Portuguese wonderkid is set to turn 19 during this summers European Championships and could play a vital part in how his side do in the tournament, having been included in Fernando Santos’ final 26-man squad.

Pep Guardiola is said to be a fan of the defender and could be willing to spend another fortune on a full-back, whilst Manchester United are tipped to enter the race as well.

According to Record, via Sport Witness, the player is ‘destined’ to make a big-money move, and Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid are touted as possible destinations for Portugal’s next big star.

The player is believed to have a €70m release clause in his contract, and if negotiations from the deal which saw United sign Bruno Fernandes last year tell you anything, Sporting are unlikely to budge on their price.

The player does not only share Sporting with Fernandes, but also employs the same player agency – a boost to United’s chances of signing the youngster.
