BVB reject Manchester United’s first bid for Jadon Sancho – report

Reports of a bid rejected for Jadon Sancho are doing the rounds.

It sounds like Manchester United have made their first official approach for the Borussia Dortmund winger, despite tracking the former Man City winger for over three years.

It’s no secret to anyone that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously had Sancho on his transfer wish list, and it looks like progress is being made this summer to make a deal happen.

However, United’s reported £67m transfer bid has unsurprisingly fallen short of Dortmund’s asking price, as per The Mirror. It is added that BVB have restarted talks for the 21-year-old and they’re said to be ‘determined’ to hold out for an extra £10m.

Whether the story is true or not, we’ve know from experience with these sagas that the press is in a race to be first. That can sacrifice some of the truth but I won’t pass on the opportunity to question why United would waste time making an offer they know will get rejected?

It sounds like Dortmund want £77m for Sancho this summer, which is a bit closer to Fabrizio Romano’s claims earlier today, suggesting the Bundesliga outfit want £82m for the England international.

That would make Sancho the 10th most expensive football transfer in history.
