Manchester United midfielder Fred will be breathing a sigh of relief after making Brazil’s Copa America squad. He was called up to the provisional squad last week, a first call-up since 2018 for the former Shakhtar man.
Fred irritated club staff two years ago when he booked his wedding at the start of that year’s pre-season. He did it on the presumption that he would be granted an extended break due to his involvement in the Copa America. Only problem was that he didn’t make the Brazil squad that year.
However, this time around he has got his call-up and will be taking part alongside his international teammates. Brazil announced their squad on Wednesday, revealing a number of Premier League stars set to defend their Copa America crown.

Fred has been one of Solskjær’s most used players in the past two seasons and will be happy to have made the final 24-man squad for the tournament which eluded him two years ago.
Alex Telles, who was also in contention for the squad, narrowly missed out on a place.
