‘You taught me that’ – Amad Diallo responds to Fernandes praise after free-kick winner

Bruno Fernandes has sent United prodigy Amad Diallo some words of encouragement after the youngster came on to score a last-minute winner for Ivory Coast. Amad was introduced in the second half, making just his second appearance for his country but scored a spectacular free-kick in the dying embers.

Diallo shared a video of his free-kick on Instagram shortly after and was met by a wave of compliments, including from United teammates Anthony Elanga and Bruno Fernandes.

The latter praised Amad, but it’s fair to presume that the pair have discussed dead ball situations in training. “But you were wrong,” Bruno wrote in Italian. “You taught me that,” Amad responded.

Fernandes is said to have a close relationship with Amad and has taken him under his wing. The 18-year-old is not fluent in English and can communicate with the Portuguese in Italian.

Amad is also believed to have a good relationship with Paul Pogba, his childhood hero. Eric Bailly, who is his teammate for him club and country, is often seen next to Amad in training pictures.
