James Garner’s impressive half-season with Nottingham Forest has seen the midfielder become the subject of many enquiries. The young star endured a difficult first half of the season at Watford but recovered in stellar fashion after joining Chris Hughton’s side as they comfortably beat relegation.
The 20-year-old instantly became a mainstay in their side, anchoring the midfield and contributing in the final third as well. Garner made 40 appearances in the Championship last season, scoring 4 goals and was in the running for best signing of the season among fans.
And that form has seen Nottingham Forest enquire about a second loan spell, according to The Athletic.
Forest are reportedly pursuing a deal, despite technically releasing him at the end of the season.
It is however claimed that Manchester United will resist any attempts initially, with Ole Gunnar Solskjær determined to assess Garner in pre-season first.
Garner was with the United squad in their pre-season tour 2019, the last one before the pandemic hit, and is clearly in Solskjær’s plans moving forward.
