Atletico Madrid star flattered by reported Manchester United interest

Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez is flattered by the attention he is reportedly receiving from Manchester United.

Even on the back of a title-winning campaign, during which Atleti outmuscled Barcelona and rivals Real Madrid, Niguez is thinking about potential pastures new.

According to a report published by The Sun, Saul is keen on a transfer to Old Trafford, with his present club willing to accept a bid in the region of £40m this summer.

And the player hasn’t shied away from the prospect of joining the Red Devils.

“I am very flattered that a club like Manchester United or other teams that ask about me take me into consideration, for me it is very positive,” the midfielder was quoted as saying.

“And that strong people in those clubs speak well of you means that I am doing things well at Atletico Madrid.”

Saul Niguez has been a mainstay in Diego Simeone’s side for years as a utility player who is versatile enough to play a number of different roles.

It remains to be seen whether Simeone has anything to do with trying to get him out of the club, but I highly doubt it as one of his most trusted players.
