Video: Rashford, Ferdinand and Lingard join Hope United to combat hate

We complain about social media from time to time – but still use it.

It has become an accepted part of daily life and sadly you can’t experience it without realising each network can be manipulated into a cesspit of abuse.

On Sunday, Rio Ferdinand was the victim of racial abuse at Molinex when a Wolves fan made monkey noises towards him. A sickening act but police say the person in question has been arrested.

Ferdinand’s employee for punditry, BT, have teamed up with some of football’s biggest names to combat the hatred with an initiative named Hope United.

Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Rio Ferdinand are among the players who have signed up for the project.

Watch the Hope United video below:

In the video people, representatives from Hope United reveal how social media has changed their lives.

Racism, homophobia and sexism – hatred. We don’t stand for it.
