Solskjaer plans for 3 Manchester United signings this summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect ‘many outgoings’ at Manchester United this summer.

The manager is aiming to sign a minimum three players this summer, and we all know how that depends on the board doing their homework in the transfer window.

“We’re planning as we normally do,” Solskjaer said following a question about the upcoming transfer window, at today’s press conference (via MEN). “It’s not like end of season, and let’s see what we do, that’s an ongoing process, looking at the squad, players who are going to stay, players who might be leaving.

“And, as I said a couple of times recently, I hope we’re going to strengthen with two or three players we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table. We’re still too behind to think it’s just going to come by itself.

“We’ve had a few players on loan that might come back in, there is interest in a few others, maybe going out. But you want to come out of the transfer window strengthened and it might be we allow some players to out and gain experience, come back stronger for it.

“Apart from that, it’s difficult to say. I can’t see too many outgoings.”

As is the case every year, United are being linked with every footballer under the moon. From Raphael Varane, Paul Torres and Declan Rice to Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. The list goes on.

I would argue that there should be quite a few outgoings this summer. Definitely Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira, Nemanja Matic, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira and Juan Mata.

That’s eight players.

Another factor we must weigh in is whether Dean Henderson will be first choice goalkeeper next season. I can’t see both David de Gea and Hendo being at the club next season, so Solskjaer has a number of big decisions to make over the coming weeks.

I would like to see James Garner get a Premier League loan, somewhere he’ll play most weeks after impressing in the Championship at Nottingham Forest. A year on and he could be knocking on the first-team door. Fingers crossed.

Let us know in the comments section who you would like to see United sign in the summer.

  1. Definitely Jesse Lingard, Diogo Dalot, Andreas Pereira, Nemanja Matic, Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira and Juan Mata.

That’s eight players. (Its 7 players)

    1. Quite eagle eyed you are!!spot on.but when we include a player who has inexplicably been ommited from that list yet he should have been top of it in my opinion the number will still add to eight.I’m referring to none other than Phil Jones…..

  2. Blimey yes we do need a clear out but OLE wont get rid of a few culprits, namely FRED and LINDELOF,these 2 were Joses bad buys, as has been proved season after season.Untill we get World class quality in these positions I fear for next season,RICE,VARANE,KANE,yep we would give lickle city a run for their money but I fear the worst and another average season !

  3. Fred first out the door, waist of money. Yes Lindelof, an accident waiting to happen, Phil Jones who never plays, plus the Seven mentioned. Imagine how much wages you could save, you could afford to have Kane and Renaldo in the forward line.

  4. I think we should go for kane or hallard in the front line ….and Declan rice in the midfield and verane at the back …….and for those that are loan out, we must get lingard back out of them.
