This season you would be forgiven for completely forgetting about Sergio Romero.

Romero did not take kindly to falling behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order at Old Trafford, but from speaking to people close to the player, there is a strong feeling he would’ve opted for a transfer last year.

I don’t blame him – it’s been a tough year for most pushing through a global pandemic. What has Romero been doing while collecting a hefty wage at United? I’m delighted he didn’t lose any self-respect by taking to the modern craze of TikTok trends.

As a second choice keeper, however, the Argentine was brilliant in 2017 when United won the Europa League and he very rarely let us down after that. Okay, he was never going to be first choice — not with that defence — but I’ll always reflect well on his time at the club.

Romero should have been allowed leave a year ago, yet you will still hear people at United say the wage bill needs to be cut. Do it then?

Stretty News reporter Leah Smith can reveal Sergio Romero is wanted by more than two clubs — with both Everton and Juventus “really interested” after making contact with the goalkeeper’s representatives.

You could put your house on Romero leaving United this summer and it now looks like a move to Juventus is on the cards. To replace the great Gianluigi Buffon.

There’s also interest from fellow Serie A outfit Roma.
