Loads of Man United fans react as midfielder gets long-awaited start vs Roma

Manchester United fans are pleased to see midfielder Donny van de Beek finally get his chance in the Europa League semi-final second leg against Roma.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side take a formidable 6-2 first-leg lead to the Stadio Olimpico after thrashing their Italian opponents with five unanswered goals after the break at Old Trafford.

That healthy advantage has offered Solskjaer the chance to rotate slightly as he aims to reach his first final as United boss.

Eric Bailly joins captain Harry Maguire in central defence with Victor Lindelof afforded a rest.

But United supporters are most looking to forward to seeing whether Van de Beek can take his rare chance in the Italian capital.

The Dutchman has not made a starting lineup since the FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Leicester City in March but is offered an overdue opportunity to impress by Solskjaer.

United are overwhelming favourites to go through comfortably this evening but Van de Beek can shine alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in a strong side.

Van de Beek may start alongside Fred in the midfield axis or could operate further forward if Solskjaer opts to utilise Pogba in a deeper position.

Man Utd XI vs Roma: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw, Van de Beek, Fred, Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba, Cavani.
