Manchester United among clubs watching Metz starlet Pape Sarr

Manchester United have been linked with a move for FC Metz teen sensation Pape Sarr.

Last month the 18-year-old from Senegal won his first cap for his country against Congo now he’s reportedly being watched by a host of big clubs.

Sarr’s interational debut came only four months after his league debut for Metz.

The Sun claims that the box-to-box midfielder has been watched regularly by European clubs including Manchester United.

Metz coach Frederic Anonetti was asked about Sarr’s future last week and was quoted by The Sun article as saying: “We already have a lot of players who are in demand for the future.”

It’s worth noting that Sarr signed a five-year deal with Metz last year, so a lot hangs on whether Metz decide to cash in now or see if he can grow in value over the next 12 months.

The Reds need more quality in middle but we can’t truly judge a player without seeing him play. But you look at some of the unknown signings made by Leicester City in recent years and it’s a total credit to their scouting network.

It’s always best to spot the talent first, like United many moons ago with Cristiano Ronaldo.
