Manchester United loanee keeper conceded seven against Norwich City

Tuesday night was one to forget for Joel Pereira, but we fear he will have nightmares over it for some time.

Pereira’s second appearance of the season on loan at Huddersfield Town did not go as planned, with the Manchester United loanee goalkeeper conceded seven goals against Norwich City.

He joined the Championship side in the summer and has been playing back-up to Ryan Schofield.

That isn’t ideal for a young lad who had dreams of being United number 1, with former manager José Mourinho raving about his prospect when he was in charge at Old Trafford.

Pereira conceded four goals in his first match for Huddersfield Town. They lost 4-3 against Stoke City and he would have hoped for a better second appearance, but sadly it wasn’t to be.

It remains to be seen if Pereira will be trusted again between the sticks at Huddersfield. He didn’t do himself any favours last night.

Norwich dominated with almost 70% possession as they registered 11 shots on target, meaning Pereira managed to pull off just four saves throughout the match. A back’s against the wall job.

Pereira was part of the Hearts side that got demoted last season.

The Portuguese shot stopper will see his United contract expire at the end of the season and we don’t think he will be offered an extension.

Any takers?
