Manchester United were refused a penalty when Daniel James went down in the box in the Europa League second-leg against AC Milan at the San Siro.
The Reds have failed to spark so far in their decisive round-of-16 tie and chances have been limited.
James has been offered some freedom on the right-hand side but has struggled to provide the moments of quality in the final third, a familiar problem for the Welsh winger.
But James could have been rewarded a penalty midway through the first-half when he was challenged by Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori.
James chose against playing in striker Mason Greenwood in a favourable position and continued his run down the flank before going down in the area.
Tomori makes no contact with the ball and there could be an argument that he was excessively aggressive in the tackle.
