Pedro Goncalves: Latest midfielder linked to Manchester United

Manchester United are being linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Goncalves.

This is by no means ‘confirmation’ that United will make a move for the attacking midfielder this summer, but it shows that the new recruitment setup is in action by identifying potential targets.

Interestingly, the 22-year-old was on the books at Wolves, but failed to make the grade, and also didn’t cut the mustard at Valencia.

Life at Sporting has been better for Goncalves. He is renowned for being able to play on either flank but is best in an attacking midfielder.

It has previously been reported that Liverpool made ‘informal’ contact during the January transfer window and, and are now planning to keep track of the player between now and the end of the season, as per The Mirror.

However, Mike McGrath of The Telegraph claims United have been looking at Goncalves as one of their options for a right-winger this summer. The report also suggests Goncalves has a buyout clause of £51.7m.
