Kalidou Koulibaly linked with a summer move to Old Trafford

Manchester United are reportedly lining up a move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer transfer window.

Koulibaly has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now and it now appears Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to make a move after it was reported that Napoli have lowered their asking price for their Senegalese defender.

According to reports from the Italy, as per Il Mattino, Napoli have lowered their asking price down to just £39 million, a stark contrast from their whopping £100m+ they wanted previously for their star defender.

It’s no secret that United have needed a true world-class centre half for some time now. Signing Harry Maguire back in 2019 went a long way to fixing United’s defensive problems but they are still in need of a top calibre defender to partner Maguire at the back, and I feel Koulibaly would be the perfect fit.

There are few if any better centre backs out there in Europe and at 29-years of age he is in his prime footballing years.

The Daily Mail has previously labeled United ‘favourites’ to sign Koulibaly.

Solskjaer would be getting a player ready for the here and now and his addition would undoubtedly strengthen his current Manchester United defence.

It’s a transfer that ticks all the right boxes and it Solskjaer manages to get Koulibaly on board this summer then it would go a long way to solving United’s defensive woes.
