Dwight Yorke hails Marcus Rashford and claims striker is one of world’s best

Former Manchester United striker (and my idol growing up) Dwight Yorke has hailed current attacker Marcus Rashford and firmly believes the Englishman should be considered as good as Kylian Mbappe.

Rashford, 22, who celebrated his five-year anniversary on Thursday, has enjoyed an impressive time with United’s first-team since making his debut.

After bursting onto the scene which included scoring on his debuts in four different competitions, Rashford has already racked-up over 250 senior appearances.

Now firmly cemented as a vital part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team plans, Rashford continues to play an integral role for this current United side.

In light of Rashford’s impressive first five years Old Trafford, Yorke feels the English striker deserves to be mentioned alongside the likes of PSG star Mbappe.

After netting 65 times in 152 appearances for United from 1998 to 2002, if anyone knows what it takes to become a star at Old Trafford, it’s Yorke.

Famously part of United’s 1999 treble-winning side, Yorke’s four-years under Sir Alex Ferguson saw the Trinidad and Tobagonian lift six major trophies, including three Premier League titles.

Although currently on a four-year trophyless drought, Yorke feels Rashford could play a key role in the Red Devils becoming a force again.

“Absolutely. [Rashford] is certainly in the bracket of Mbappe,” the former marksman told ESPN. “The likes of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo are a different level, but Marcus is certainly one for the future in terms of being one of the best players in the world if he keeps working hard and developing his football.

“We haven’t seen the best of Rashford yet. I think that if we give him another couple of years and let him learn the ins and outs of the game a little bit more, he will only get better. I consider that he is still in that educational part, so he has another couple of years before he develops into the complete player.”
