It seems like we’ve all completely forgotten about Juan Mata. All of the attention is on Donny van de Beek not getting games rather than seeing the bigger picture.

The Netherlands international is ahead of Juan Mata in the pecking order. It’s as simple as that as it shows we’ve strengthened from a year ago.

Mata is still a decent player to have in the squad and hopefully having him around the younger players will rub off on them because he’s always been an honest professional.

United take on Real Sociedad in the Europa League tomorrow night and with Van de Beek ruled out for the trip, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dropped a hint that the Spaniard could start in midfield.

“He has been away for a little while,” Solskjaer told reporters, as per MEN.

“Against West Brom you wonder what he might have done. He is travelling with us.

“If we see him on the pitch I’m sure he’ll want to prove to Spanish fans what a player he is.”

Manchester United should be trying to win the Europa League if they can get over this hurdle against La Real. It seems like the manager will be putting trust in his squad, but underestimating this La Liga side could be a mistake.

They started the season strongly and have slipped down a few places to fifth.

No excuses on the night from the Reds Devils.
