Manchester United keep tabs on Real Madrid midfielder as potential Pogba replacement

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Real Madrid star Federico Valverde as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba.

The Sun issued these claims as an exclusive report and highlighted that Valverde has been watched by United scouts on a number of occasions, over the years. From that they should have a profile and better idea of the Real Madrid midfielder and whether he can be an addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Valverde is apparently being looked at as a possible replacement for Pogba, whose agent Mino Raiola suggested earlier this season he wanted to quit Old Trafford.

The French midfielder has been linked to Real Madrid and Juventus, but United have never been willing to drop their valuation of the player. It will be interested to see what happens this summer with the transfer market still heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Valverde is renowned for his stamina and powerful box-to-box running along with his short passing game.

With a staggering £148m buyout clause and four-years remaining on his 120,000-a-week contract at the Bernabeu, the clubs will obviously need to come to some sort of agreement because that’s crazy money for Valverde.

Pogba’s career remains up in the air.
