Man Utd team news: Solskjaer gives update on Bailly & Pogba injuries

Manchester United travel to The Hawthorns where they will face West Brom on Sunday, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking to the press ahead of the game.

The Norwegian started briefing the press with a team news update.

Paul Pogba is still out but Eric Bailly has returned to training. United will miss the Frenchman in midfield but the sooner Solskjaer can add Bailly’s pace to his defence, preferably over Victor Lindelof, the better.

“Paul [Pogba] is still out,” Solskjaer told reporters on Friday afternoon, as per Manchester Evening News. “Eric [Bailly] has been training so that’s a boost for us.”

It sure is. It’s not a surprise that our form has dipped since the Ivorian has been out of the team injured. His last appearance for the Red Devils came in the away win over Fulham.

The manager added some positive news to his update on the team after promoting two youngsters to the first-team.

“We’ve moved Shola [Shoretire] up, Hannibal [Mejbri] will join us.

“We’ll keep them for a while. They take the hit with reserves, travelling by themselves as they’re in our bubble. But it’s a nice step.”

It remains to be seen when Shoretire and Mejbri will get their chance in the first-team but they will learn a lot from training with the group. That is how the likes of James Garner and Ethan Laird got loan moves — they knew already what it was going to be like being in a first-team environment.

Time will tell if we get to see Shoretire or Mejbri play in the first-team this season, but there is also excitement around Amad Diallo’s debut whenever that comes.
