Argentinian side keen to sign Manchester United star once contract expires

Argentinian side Boca Juniors are reportedly keen to sign Manchester United’s star striker Edinson Cavani once his deal at Old Trafford expires.

Cavani, 33, joined United on a free transfer on deadline day during last summer’s transfer window, as per ManUtd.

The Red Devils snapped-up the chance to land the hugely experienced forward who was available for free after his previous contract with Paris-Saint Germain expired earlier that year.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford and armed with the famous number seven shirt, Cavani has already emerged as somewhat of a fan favourite – Even if we aren’t there to show him.

After featuring in 16 Premier League matches, the 33-year-old South American has already racked-up an impressive eight direct contributions.

Cavani’s presence among the United first-team is proving invaluable as team-mate Anthony Martial endured a dip in form.

However, despite only being with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side for less than 12-months, there are already reports that the Uruguayan is being eyed by clubs back in his native continent.

According to a recent report from ESPN Argentina, Cavani has emerged as a transfer target for Marcos Rojo’s new-side, Boca Juniors.

The report claims that Boca would love to sign Cavani once his deal with United expires. Although Cavani’s deal is set to expire in the summer, the club retain the option to trigger a one-year extension; something they’re extremely likely to do.

It has been reported that the club’s second vice-president and former pro Juan Roman Riquelme is a big admirer of Cavani and has somewhat of a transfer ‘obsession’.

Make of that what you will.
