Solskjaer confirms Amad Diallo will play for Manchester United U23s tonight

You will be able to catch Manchester United new boy Amad Diallo in action again tonight against Blackburn Rovers, live on MUTV.

Neil Wood’s young side look to build on last week’s fantastic 6-3 win over Liverpool, during which Amad scored a brace and Joe Hugill converted an incredible four times.

“Amad will be playing,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told MUTV’s Mark Sullivan. “We’re working on his match fitness. Of course, he’s working hatd in training and Blackburn are top of the league so it will be good challenge for them again.”

Amad is expected to start the game in the same role he made his U23s debut in last week, on the right flank with an appetite for cutting in and taking on his man.

Wood will need to juggle his squad around after losing a number of players on loan in January, such as: Teden Mengi, Ethan Laird, Luca Ercolani, Lukasz Bejger and Facundo Pellistri.

At least by playing in the U23s our coaches will eventually know everything they need to know about Amad. He agreed to join United in the summer but his move was held up by the need for a work permit.

He didn’t necessarily get a lot of time in the Atalanta side when I would imagine United’s coaches were hoping to see him in the Serie A this season.

With Pellistri gone to Spain on loan, Amad could be the main winger on the right for the U23s between now and the end of the season.

I’m sure his debut in the first time will come soon, too.
