Pogba responds to Ferdinand’s big question on his Manchester United future

Paul Pogba insists he is focused on guiding Manchester United to trophies rather than speculation over his future after being asked by former club captain Rio Ferdinand if he was planning to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

We are finality seeing the influence Paul Pogba was supposed to bring to the pitch when Manchester United re-signed the French midfielder in 2016.

Now the questions are not just based on Pogba’s future, but people want to know whether he is interested in putting off plans to join Real Madrid or return to Juventus.

Rio Ferdinand is quoted on BT Sport, saying: “A happy Paul Pogba, a consistent Paul Pogba playing every week. Is he staying at Man United for a long time?”

Pogba gave a tongue-in-cheek response: “You were waiting for this one!

“I’m on contract, I’m here, I’m enjoying myself. Everyone knows I have one year left. We’re going to speak to the club to see what’s going on.

“For now, my objective, my goal is to win something. That’s all I’m thinking about, to win. That’s all I’m focused on, the contract is not important.”

That’s fair enough from Pogba — so long as he keeps performing on the pitch, he won’t find any of us complaining.

Dishing criticism Pogba’s way was never fun because every United fan wanted the transfer to be a success, and now it’s a matter of praising the midfielder for doing what he came to do.

If Pogba keeps winning matches for United, I have no doubt Ferdinand will be returning with a similar question before it’s too long.
