Kalidou Koulibaly picks Man United as preferred destination

Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly set to snub a move to Liverpool as he would prefer to join Manchester United should he leave Napoli.

Koulibaly, 29, joined Napoli in 2014 after making a £6.98m switch from Genk, as per Transfermarkt.

Since joining his Serie A side, Koulibaly has gone on to feature in over 260 matches in all competitions.

After growing to become one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders, the commanding Senegalese centre-back has naturally seen his name linked with a string of top-tier clubs looking to secure his services.

However, after recent links suggested Jurgen Klopp could be eyeing a summer move for the highly-rated defender, the German manager may be forced to look elsewhere.

According to a recent written report from Marca (via Daily Express), the 29-year-old would prefer a move to Old Trafford.

The outlet claim that not only does the experienced defender want to move to the Red Devils, he is also a big fan of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, should United make a long-awaited move for a new defender, they’ll need to be prepared to write a hefty cheque for Koulibaly.

Marca claim Napoli have insisted that Koulibaly definitely won’t be leaving during the January transfer window but come the summer will be available for a whopping £100m.

  1. I can’t see utd paying £100m on a defender when they wouldn’t spend the same on Sancho. £70m maybe.
