Report: Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain tracking Ligue 1 midfielder

Brest midfielder Romain Faivre is reportedly being tracked by Manchester United after some impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Faivre joined Brest last summer from French rivals Monaco and has since committed his future with a new five-year deal at the club.

But according to reports in France, that has not put off potential suitors in the 22-year-old who has netted four goals in 17 appearances this season.

Le10 Sport claim United and PSG are both interested in signing Faivre and are monitoring the future of the midfielder.

The report labels Faivre a ‘revelation’ for mid table Brest, and the interest is making the player even more motivated to continue his progression.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well stocked in midfield options at Old Trafford, regardless of whether Paul Pogba is sold in the summer transfer window.

Of course, Pogba will have to be replaced, but surely that replacement will be a player of an elite calibre that will immediately make his mark on United’s first-team.

While United must remain active in the transfer market, we see a move for unproven Faivre unlikely at this stage.

  1. United would be better off going for Soumare to replace Matic than opting for a less proven attacking midfielder.
