Six Man United players facing the axe with Solskjaer set for face-to-face showdown talks

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly preparing for face-to-face showdown talks with as many as six first-team players, all of whom look to be heading for the exit.

It has recently been reported by The Sun that Solskjaer is prepared to trim his bursting squad and offload up to six first-teamers.

The Sun claim the Norwegian is set to meet with Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, Jesse Lingard, Brandon Williams and Dan James to discuss their imminent departures.

Romero’s Old Trafford future looks set to come to an end after the goalkeeper now finds himself at the very bottom of his manager’s pecking order.

Jones, a target for West Brom and Rojo, a target for Newcastle United have both failed to feature this season and look certain to be two defensive options moved on.

Lingard, who has recently had his contract extended by an optional year (Sky Sports) has been touted for a transfer away from his boyhood club for quite some time now.

The 27-year-old midfielder, similarly to Romero has also found himself way down in the squad’s pecking order and after failing to feature in the Premier League this season, also looks certain to move on.

However, perhaps the most surprising name on the report’s list is 23-year-old James.

United’s Welsh winger who joined from Swansea just 18-months ago is reportedly another name heading for the exit door, which may shock some fans after the attacker’s recent upturn in form.

Although not a first-choice starter, James has still racked up nine appearances in all competitions so far, this season, scoring twice along the way.

However, according to The Sun, the winger could be sacrificed in an attempt to free up some funds to be used to bring in players of a higher quality, as the Reds’ continue to try and lift their first title since 2013.

And finally, The Sun claim full-back Williams is scheduled to leave but only on loan with Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen two of the favourites to land the young defender.

  1. I think martial and juan mata should be added to the departure list. The likes of incoming diallo, pellistri, aliou and sholatire should be infused into the first team.

  2. Luke Shaw is about the best left back in English football today. Luke Shaw ranks amongst the best in Europe. HE IS SORELY NEEDED. Same goes for D. Dalot. At a time when ManU needs good defenders, Ole is keeping out real talents for goodness’ sake!
