Manchester United believe Jadon Sancho transfer stance paid off

Here we go again, the January transfer window opens and Jadon Sancho is making the headlines.

According to 90min, cited by the Daily Star, Manchester United believe that their gamble over Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has paid off.

There was every chance that, with another year at Dortmund, the 20-year-old would have gone up in estimations of his current club had he continued his fine form. But speak to anyone who watches German football and they will tell you that has not yet been the case.

The report adds that Sancho had been keen to join United in the summer, but he was never inclined to submit a formal transfer request to Dortmund.

Apparently United are confident that Sancho would be an ideal signing, with no suggestion of interest from Real Madrid or Barcelona.

In November 2020, the player himself said when asked if talk over a move to United has been distracting, as per ITV: “Nah, I don’t think so. I feel like every player has a little dip in their career, and I feel I’m going through that at the moment.

“It is just how I’m bouncing back and I am just happy to have managers who have faith in me.”

Ultimately, it remains to be seen if United will go in for Sancho next summer. A lot of that will go down to how much money is put into Solskjaer’s kitty because there are a number of areas in the team that need strengthening.

Of course, the right wing area needs bolstering at Old Trafford and we’ve still got Amad Diallo to join in January, as well as Facundo Pellistri in the U23s.
