Manchester United v Wolves: Michael Owen prediction

Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to get an important win tonight over Wolves.

The former striker is tipping the Reds to edge to a 1-0 win against Wolves at Old Trafford when the teams meet on Tuesday night.

United were held to a 2-2 draw with top-four rivals Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Boxing Day. We broke the deadlock thanks to Marcus Rashford before Bruno Fernandes restored their lead in the second half. Leicester managed to equalise shortly after both United goals so we weren’t able to keep our lead for very long.

Thus far this season United only have two Premier League wins at Old Trafford (versus Leeds United and West Brom) and that will have to change later on if we’re serious about a title challenge, as Luke Shaw suggests in the Wolves edition of United Review.

Wolves are a side that have played well against the big teams in the Premier League — drawing last week with Tottenham Hotspur — so we’ll need to be on our toes rather than being complacent.

They’ve also beaten Arsenal and Chelsea in their last six fixtures.

Owen reckons United will win 1-0.

“Manchester United are brimming with confidence,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Their patchy form was given a massive boost in their demolition of Leeds just over a week ago. They take on a Wolves side who despite looking good going forward, are struggling in front of goal.

“I think Wolves could sit in and play for a point, but if they do, United may just have enough to break them down.”

After facing Wolves, Solskjaer’s side have Aston Villa at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day.
