Manchester United and arch-rivals Manchester City are reportedly set to go head-to-head to try and sign Borussia Dortmund superstar, Erling Haaland.
Haaland, 20, opted to join Borussia Dortmund in January from RB Salzburg in a deal which cost the Black and Yellows just £18m, as per Transfermarkt.
Since his arrival in Germany, Haaland has enjoyed a monumental rise to the forefront of European football which has been best echoed by the 20-year-old winning the illustrious 2020 Golden Boy award.
Dortmund’s Norwegian marksman has so far featured in 32 matches in all competitions and has been directly involved in a whopping 39 goals.
Haaland’s relentless clinical form has seen him unsurprisingly emerge as a top target for most of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Premier League fierce rivals, United and City.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, both Manchester outfits who are set to collide in Saturday’s mouth-watering Manchester derby, are also set to battle it out in the transfer window.
The Daily Mail’s report claims that both powerhouse’s hierarchies have identified Dortmund’s Haaland as a key target and are likely spark a bidding war before his £65m release clause comes into effect in 2022.
The Daily Mail’s report also goes on to state that United’s number-one target remains Haaland’s team-mate, Jadon Sancho, however, given the Norwegian’s previous connections to Solskjaer, the 20-year-old striker could very well play in red at some-point during the near future.
