Darren Bent has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to start Edinson Cavani on a consistent basis at Manchester United.

Cavani couldn’t prove to be the difference-maker in the defeat to former side Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford in midweek, but proved with his inspired cameo against Southampton three days just how important he can be.

The Uruguayan veteran has a goalscoring record that can be matched by few across Europe and could prove vital as Solskjaer’s men enter the vital congested Christmas fixture schedule.

Anthony Martial, meanwhile, has endured a slow start to the campaign that was distributed by a three game ban for a petulant red card against Tottenham.

The Frenchman has just two goals across all competitions this term and operated on the left-flank to accommodate focal point Cavani against PSG.

Former Premier League striker Bent believes Cavani has the ‘world class’ movement Martial is lacking as a centre-forward and therefore must be utilised more for United.

Cavani could start in this evening’s game against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
