Manchester United midfielder Fred is set to miss today’s Premier League clash against West Ham on Saturday evening.
Fred, 27, joined the Reds in 2017 from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. It took him over a season to settle and warrant a role in the line-up, but under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he has become an important member of the squad. A player the manager trusts to call on.
That blew back into Solskjaer’s face during the week against Paris Saint-Germain when, despite escaping a straight red card in the first half, the boss opted to keep him on the pitch and it was only a matter of time in the second half before the referee would decide to go back on a previous mistake… even if it meant making another!
Fred’s second yellow was hardly a booking — but it didn’t help his case that he had made more than one bad tackle throughout the match. He was walking a tightrope but ultimately I think Solskjaer will learn from paying the price against PSG.
Looking ahead fo their next match against West Ham, managed by former manager David Moyes, Solskjaer will be hopeful his side can get back to winning ways.
According to MEN reporter, Samuel Luckhurst, Solskjaer may not be able to call upon Fred.
#mufc squad travelled to London at 6pm yesterday but Fred was in Manchester last night. Unless he’s travelled to London this morning (doubtful) it looks like he won’t be in the squad. Fred trained yesterday but is obviously suspended for Leipzig.

It is not fully known whether Fred has been ruled out through injury or dropped, however, Solskjaer is likely to give an update before today’s 5:30pm kick-off.
