Manchester United are reportedly facing competition for the potential transfer of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The Bundesliga is home to the brightest young talents in world football and Borussia Monchengladbach’s midfield looks safe in the hands of Zakaria for now.
Chelsea have also been linked with Zakaria in the past by Christian Falk of Sport Bild, though he let his Twitter audience aware that Bayern Munich were tracking the Switzerland international back in October.
A slightly smaller German club having a player that interests Bayern Munich usually ends with that said player moving to Bavaria, but every club keen on Zakaria should be wary of Man City too, according to Fabrizio Romano on his Here We Go podcast, as cited by the Daily Star.
City have endured a difficult start to the season and it’s likely that Pep Guardian will try rebuild his squad after renewing terms with the club to extend his stay as manager.
The Monchengladbach star could be seen as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho at the Etihad, whereas United could do with a player of that mould to protect their defence.
Nemanja Matic is kicking on and Fred could be an excellent squad player. There’s room for improvement and signing a player like this could go a long way towards fixing our defensive issues.
This is a name worth keeping an eye out for this year.
