Marcus Rashford working on new book with The Athletic’s Carl Anka

Marcus Rashford is working on a new book with The Athletic’s Carl Anka.

The announcement comes from The Athletic after Rashford launched plans for a book club in 2021 to encourage kids to read more books and benefit from ‘escapism’.

This will be a reader recommends programme, with the aim of championing works from creatives of all backgrounds.

The United striker will launch YOU ARE A CHAMPION: Unlock Your Potential, Find Your Voice and Be the BEST You Can Be in May 2021 as part of a book deal with Macmillan Children’s Books.

Anka is excited to be working with Rashford. He told The Athletic: “I’m overjoyed to be teaming up with Marcus Rashford on this project,. I think he’s a fantastic footballer — I’m not just saying that because I support Manchester United — and his off-field activities have inspired and enlivened millions.

“It’s an honour to be working with Katie Warriner on a children’s book. Together we’ll strive to make something that can really entertain and inform.”

The star of the moment, Rashford, said: “Let our children read that they are not alone and enable them to dream. Equip them for obstacles and adversities they might face. Allow them to relate to the characters by making sure people of all race, religion and sex are depicted correctly and representative of modern society. The team at Pan Macmillan very much share my vision and ambition, and I am really excited to be on this journey with them.”

United fans should be so proud of what Rashford has achieved since coming through United’s academy. He clearly never stops working and is always looking for ways to help.
