Barcelona are unlikely to allow Ousmane Dembele leave the club in January because of Ansu Fati’s injury.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are pondering whether or not to sell Dembele, who is a reported target for Manchester United (via BBC Sport), in January but now they must consider the fact they’ve lost teenage prodigy Ansu Fati to a serious injury this past weekend.
Dembele joined Barcelona in 2017 but never really hit the ground running.
The Frenchman has had his problems with injuries and maybe with Fati out injured, this season will present a chance for the France international to show why the La Liga giants wanted him in the first place.
As a winger you won’t find many footballers quicker than Dembele. The former BVB star has tons of ability and a season without injury could do his development the world of good.
At 23, Dembele could still become a star at Barcelona.
It did seem like Barca were willing to offload Dembele this past summer, although a source close to the situation told Stretty News that a lot of reports were exaggerated in the wake of the excitement that stemmed from speculation linking United with another winger by the name Jadon Sancho.
Dembele has started the 2020/21 season well, scoring three goals and setting up one more in his eight appearances across all competitions.
United, on the other hand, are still in desperate need of a right-sided winger.
Should the Reds try sign Dembele in January?
