Bruno Fernandes’ incredible goal involvement record in Premier League proves he’s not just a penalty merchant

Bruno Fernandes’ two goals gave Manchester United a first-half lead after Everton opened the scoring.

He’s an incredibly influential player who scores as many as he assists.

Fernandes took the opportunity to assist Edinson Cavani at the end instead of going for a hat-trick. He was clearly mindful of the fact the Uruguayan had yet to score for United, so at least that grey cloud is no longer hanging over his head.

@StatmanDave on Twitter is worth a follow for match day statistics and he’s posted one on Fernandes which shows how important he is to this United side.

Fernandes, always determined in his approach, has been directly involved in 22 goals in 21 Premier League appearances. That’s a stunning record for a midfield player.

On top of that, Dave the Statman says that figure would be 17 if you excluded penalties. That defeats the myth that Fernandes relies on penalties.

His overall performances most weeks — even on a bad day — surpasses the vast majority of players we’ve got on the pitch.

Fernandes is a constant threat for any team facing United.
