Barcelona star annoyed Ronald Koeman during summer transfer window after refusing to join Man United

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele is reported to have annoyed manager Ronald Koeman during the final days of the summer transfer window after the Frenchman refused to join Manchester United on loan.

Dembele, 23, joined Barcelona in 2017 off the back of a stunning campaign with Borussia Dortmund and cost the Catalonian giants an eye-watering £117m, as per TransferMarkt.

The French winger has featured in 79 matches in all competitions for Barcelona and has been directly involved in 38 goals.

Despite his whopping price-tag, the young French star has failed to set La Liga alight and after a string of poor performances and a spate of injuries, Barcelona came close to offloading their £117m star during the summer transfer window.

According to Thursday’s written edition of Mundo Deportivo (via Sports Witness), current Barcelona manager Koeman became annoyed with the attacker after he refused to join United on loan.

It is understood that Dembele’s refusal to team-up with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Reds blocked the potential transfer of Koeman’s number-one transfer target, Memphis Depay, who remains with Ligue 1 side, Lyon.

It has been reported by the Spanish outlet that Koeman’s eagerness to offload Dembele in the summer was down to being unimpressed by the Frenchman.

However, after being left with no choice but to stick with Dembele, the Frenchman is repaying some of Koeman’s faith shown in him after he scored against Ferencvárosi in Barcelona’s Champions League group match last week.
