Manchester United vs RB Leipzig preview

Manchester United will be looking at returning to winning ways when they face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a disappointing 0-0 draw against Chelsea whilst the visitors ran out 2-1 winners over Hertha Berlin at the weekend.

Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones all remain out injured for United however Edinson Cavani could be in line to make his first start in the shirt since signing on deadline day.

Saturday’s stalemate against Chelsea at Old Trafford was a disappointing result for United and whilst a draw on Saturday was not the worst result in the world it was the lacklustre performance which was most disappointing and frustrating and in facing RB Leipzig it presents United and Solskjaer a perfect opportunity to bounce back.

Currently sitting top of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig have endured a fantastic start to the new campaign and with Emil Forsberg, Marcel Sabitzer and now Justin Kluivert on board United will have to be at their very best should they wish to take all three points.

Having already shown against Paris Saint-Germain earlier last month United are more than capable of beating the very best sides in European football and should Rashford, Martial, Fernandes, Pogba and co all play to their potential then United should have too much for Leipzig.

It is a game United desperately need to win for confidence and to lift fan mood. The atmosphere and general feeling in and around the club feels a bit flat at the moment and victory against Leipzig would be the perfect response to Saturday’s stalemate.
