Edinson Cavani sends message to Thiago Silva ahead of potential Manchester United debut

Edinson Cavani is preparing to make his Manchester United debut and he’s been talking about the prospect of facing former PSG teammate Thiago Silva this weekend.

Chelsea and United go head-to-head on Saturday evening with both sides looking to get their Premier League seasons on track.

Frank Lampard has a number of a new faces to play with this season, including Thiago Silva, who has been hyped as one of the world’s leading centre-backs for years.

We could see Cavani make his debut in a United shirt against his old teammate, and it sounds like he is looking forward to the opportunity.

“It will be great to be able to find him on the pitch,” Cavani told EN24 News, cited by Football London.

“Thiago is very professional, because he works so hard in training and in the pre-match warm-ups. Well, it won’t be easy!

“It will be complicated because he is a very good central defender and an excellent footballer.

“But it will still be a great experience.”

Cavani and Thiago Silva spent seven years together in Paris, with the Uruguayan joining PSG one year after the centre-back in 2013.

They won six Ligue 1 titles with the Parisians during a successful spell but their new Premier League clubs are someway behind in terms of challenging on that front in England.

Our new Uruguayan striker will be aiming to help us climb up the table but has yet to taste English domestic football.
