Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly been joined by Bayern Munich in the race to land Borussia Mönchengladbach’s highly-rated midfielder Denis Zakaria.
Zakaria, 23, joined Gladbach in 2017 from Swiss side Young Boys in a move which cost the Bundesliga outfit just £10.8m as per TransferMarkt.
The talented Swiss has featured in 96 matches in all competitions for Gladbach and after a series of resilient displays, the 23-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most highly-rated defensive midfielders.
Despite holding Inter Milan to a decent 2-2 draw in last night’s Champions League group game, Gladbach could be set to see their star midfielder depart the club he has spent the last three-years with.
According to a recent report from leading German journalist Christian Falk, Zakaria has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League duo United and Chelsea.
However, Falk goes on to claim that in light of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and counter-part Frank Lampard’s interest in the gifted midfielder, Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have also joined the race to land Zakaria.

United will be hopeful they can beat off both Bayern Munich and Chelsea in the battle to sign Gladbach’s Swiss midfielder with the central defensive position being a role the Reds have struggled to nail down in recent years.
