Manchester United hopeful of signing four players before transfer deadline

Manchester United have reportedly not given up hope of adding two more players before the transfer deadline with announcements imminent for Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles.

According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, Cavani will sign a two-year contract at Old Trafford after completing a successful medical.

Dawson also notes that United have agreed an initial fee of €15m with FC Porto for the transfer of Alex Telles.

It is added that the exciting Brazilian full-back will sign a four-year contract with the option of a further year.

But the arrival of these two stars may not spell the end of United’s business in the final hours of the transfer window.

The horrific 6-1 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday exposed the necessity of further additions and it is possible that Telles and Cavani could be joined by more signings on an unprecedented deadline day.

That’s according to respected sports journalist Sam Pilger, who confirms that Telles and Cavani will be unveiled today but the club are ‘still hoping’ to possibly add another two players before the 11pm deadline.

One of these arrivals may be Uruguayan teenager Facundo Pellistri, who the club are said to be working on a deal for.

Manchester Evening News report that the club are still prioritising a new right-sided forward and Penarol winger Pellistri is attracting interest.

Pellistri, 18, is believed to be valued at around €10m, and the MEN claim he could even be fast-tracked to the first-team as the club believe he could make an immediate impact on the team.

United should also surely be targeting a new central defender after the woeful performances of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s preferred options Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in recent weeks.

It’s staggering that the club are desperately scouring the market for deals in the final hours and it is indicative of the mess they have made of this summer window.
