Alex Telles having Man United medical ahead of official club announcement

Alex Telles is completing his medical ahead of being confirmed as a Manchester United player.

Telles will be one of at least two Old Trafford on deadline day, with veteran Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani set to sign a two-year deal, as per BBC Sport.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided United supporters with the latest update on Telles’ imminent arrival, adding that the 27-year-old will sign a contract to remain at the club until June 2025.

BBC Sport previously reported that United have agreed a fee of £13.6m plus a further £1.8m in add-ons for the Brazilian.

Luke Shaw’s woeful performance in the humiliating 6-1 Tottenham defeat was not simply an aberration and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer requires competition for the Englishman on the left side of defence.

Telles is one of Europe’s most exciting attacking full-backs, scoring 21 goals in 127 games during his four years at Porto.

He could be utilised as a left wing-back if Solskjaer opts to revert back to a five-at-the-back system with United shipping goals at an unprecedented rate early on this season.

The Reds have conceded 11 goals in their opening three Premier League games and have been fortunate not to have let in more.

While Telles will be a useful addition, a central defender surely has to be prioritised in the transfer window or the same problems will continue to rear their head.

We expect United to officially announce Telles as their new player in the coming hours and Stretty News will keep you up to date with all the latest developments on deadline day.
