‘One life left’ – Pennant gives under-fire Ten Hag a new name amid sack fears

Erik ten Hag continues to struggle at Manchester United.

The Dutchman is in his third season and his team is struggling in the Premier League as well as the Europa League.

Despite being backed in the summer with a new deal and signings in the transfer window, Ten Hag has failed to consistently inspire his players to perform.

United made five signings during the summer to strengthen in attack, midfield and defence but the results haven’t improved. The latest setback came on Thursday night as United drew 3-3 with FC Porto, after leading the match 2-0 in the first 20 minutes.

Former journeyman turned pundit Jermaine Pennant, who played for Liverpool, Ten Hag is on the brink of getting sacked and a defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday could decide that.

Pennant told talkSPORT: “I am going to call him One Hag because he has got one life left. He is not Ten Hag anymore, he is One Hag. One Hag with one life left.”

United face an in-form Aston Villa side this weekend. Unai Emery’s side recorded a memorable 1-0 win over FC Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in the Champions League and could be favourites by the time United arrive at Villa Park.

The Reds are currently 13th in the league and it feels like another disappointing season for the fans. It is difficult to see the manager turn things around at this point, but we must believe and get behind the lads – no matter what.
