Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona over Ousmane Dembele.
That’s according to reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims United are offering a loan for the Frenchman, while negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho stall.
This is now a promising update if Sancho is the man you wanted United to sign this summer, but it’s hardly a surprise.
Dembele has a terrible injury reckon which may explain why United would prefer to a short-term deal, and potentially go back in for Sancho next summer.
Fabrizio adds that United have also contacted Dembele’s agent and are putting a lot of work into convincing the player after he turned down a similar offer from Liverpool in June.

The Barcelona forward has endured a difficult spell at Camp Nou since leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Injuries have been plentiful and the Spanish press are never shy to criticise the player’s life off the pitch.
But United need a right winger and the club has left it until the last minute to sign one. They’ve waited all summer for Jadon Sancho despite being yet to make a formal bid for the England international.
It doesn’t make sense and you can understand why fans — like Gary Neville — are annoyed.
